ARRL Field Day - June 22, 2024

  • 06/22/2024
  • 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Carnation Evacuation Hill, east of Carnation

In 2023, Snoqualmie Valley Amateur Radio Club (SnoVARC), Issaquah Amateur Radio Club (IARC) and Issaquah Communications Support Team (ICST) jointly held their Field Day at the Carnation Evacuation Site with no commercial power.  Multiple antennas were deployed, and numerous HF and UHF/VHF stations were established.  It became a great example of how hams can quickly setup emergency communications (EmComm) off the "grid" and maintain them through the day and overnight.

For Issaquah or CDCCC CERTs who are interested in radio and would like to see examples of EmComm, feel free to visit the 2024 Field Day and see examples of amateur radio on HF and VHF/UHF as well as Winlink emails.   Best time to visit is between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Saturday, but once you arrive, there is no official ending time until Sunday at 11:00 AM.  Click here for a map and instructions to get to the site.

For licensed hams who want to set up and operate, contact your club representative (Rowland K7RWB for SnoVARC, Lara WA7LNF for IARC) for details.

The site is operated and maintained by the City of Carnation, so there is restricted access (a gate).  The gate code won't be active until the event, so contact Rowland Brasch or Lara Flores or Bob Otis just before the event to gain access.
