The General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) is a radio service designed for short-range, two-way voice communication.  GMRS radios are typically handheld portable (walkie-talkies) much like Family Radio Service (FRS) radios.  GMRS and FRS share the same frequencies, but GMRS radios are allowed to use more power and GMRS repeaters to extend their range beyond that of walkie-talkies.

Mihai will give a presentation on GMRS radios Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  The objective is to introduce you to a more powerful radio service that will allow you to talk to more people over a wider area of coverage.  You will have to register with the FCC and obtain a license, but no test is required.
