April Issaquah CERT Social - Hands-On Antenna Building & Testing

Join fellow CERT members for our monthly get-together!

Note the time change - this month's meeting will be from 7-8 p.m., after the CERT Basic class. 

Join us for our April CERT Social on April 13 at 7 p.m. at Blakely Hall, where we'll dive into emergency communications! This session will focus on building and testing a UHF/VHF dipole antenna suitable for amateur radio HTs, mobile radios and GMRS. We'll use PVC pipe, wire, coax, and a radio (or two) to construct the antenna and test its performance.

In addition, we'll demonstrate a portable dipole antenna and use an antenna analyzer to measure how efficiently the antenna transmits radio power (SWR). While we won’t cover the theory behind dipoles, we’ll go over how to determine the correct wire length—no math required!

Whether you're new to radio or an experienced operator, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with antenna building and testing.

Time and place for April 13 are 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM  (normally 6-7:30 PM) on the second Sunday of the month at Blakely Hall, Issaquah Highlands, 2550 NE Park Dr., Issaquah.
