Register for the first 2025 radio workshop with Mihai.  It is designed to answer the BIG question, "I'm looking at a radio, so now what?"  The class is intended for anyone who is interested in knowing how to use a radio and will focus on EmComm (Emergency Communications).  The two types of radios Mihai will discuss are GMRS (same channels as FRS, but with more power) and Ham Radio (more of everything).

The class will be in the training room at Public Works Operations and will start at 9:00AM on May 31. It should wind up around noon.  Keep in mind that this class is more like a workshop with hands-on.  If you have a radio, bring it, but it's not required.  If you do, please note what radio it is in the comments when you register.

Agenda
1> Introduction: I have or want to have a radio, so now what?
2> GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) vs HAM (Amateur Radio)
3> Frequencies, Squelch (SQL), Tone/Tone SQL/CTCSS/DCS – What are these and how do they work?
4> Repeaters – How do they work?
5> Antennas - What should I buy for my radio?
6> Batteries - What and how many should I buy?
7> How do I program my radio - most common menu items are in Settings - SQL/STEP/Offset/DUP and so on.
8> Index Cards - How do I remember all this?
9> Intro to APRS (if we have time)

 Hope to see you there!
